Renpower Uzbekistan 2021

02 – 03 December 21
Online

Online Live Event – 2 & 3 December 2021

Renpower Uzbekistan 2021 – Powering Uzbekistan in the next decade – new drivers towards the scaling up of renewable energy generation

Whilst Uzbekistan has set its first PPP solar plant venture, several other solar projects are in the pipeline. The country is also working on Central Asia’s largest wind farm, which could generate 1.5GW a year in 2024. Uzbekistan is also betting on hydropower with 62 projects, including both new construction and renovation.

According to the roadmap’s key performance indicators, until 2030 Uzbekistan needs to build 8 GW of new renewables capacities and modernize 10 GW of existing natural gas capacities. To achieve clean energy transition, the capacity of wind and solar power plants will be respectively increased to 3 GW and 5 GW. The government also plans to build its first nuclear power plant whose capacity will be 2.4 GW. Regulatory and institutional reforms will keep enabling the development of renewable energy sources in Uzbekistan, mobilizing investments from domestic and international players and taking advantage of the fact that the cost of wind and solar technologies has reduced during the last decade.
