RENPOWER ZAMBIA 2025 – FROM POLICY TO ACTION: Unlocking Access to Green Energy Generation and Accelerating Grid Stability

Date:11 July 2025
Venue: Lusaka, Zambia (in-person event)
Language: English

Zambia aims to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 47% by 2030, while also addressing a critical challenge—only 43% of the population currently has access to electricity.
Expanding energy access and accelerating the clean energy transition are key national priorities.

Historically reliant on hydroelectric power, Zambia’s energy system has been exposed to increasing vulnerability due to prolonged droughts. As a result, diversifying the energy mix has become essential to ensure long-term energy security and climate resilience.

In 2025, the country is taking bold steps to scale up solar deployment, with a target of adding 1,000 MW of new capacity to the national grid by year-end.
Distributed renewable energy solutions, including solar mini-grids, will also be crucial to achieving universal access by 2030—reaching over 8.5 million people in underserved areas.
While solar leads the way, wind energy is gaining traction, with feasibility studies underway and early-stage projects in development.
Zambia is also positioning itself for future opportunities in green hydrogen. Hydropower will remain an important part of the energy mix, with projects such as the 2,400 MW Batoka Gorge scheme and new developments along the upper Zambezi River expected to add significant capacity to the grid.

🤝 RENPOWER ZAMBIA 2025 will provide the perfect platform to connect with key industry players across the entire value chain in one of the most promising markets in Africa!
