Renpower Côte d’Ivoire – 3rd Edition

24 October 24
Abidjan

The Ivorian government is leading the way in renewable energy with ambitious projects and goals.
Following the inauguration of its first solar power plant in Boundiali (37.5 MW), the government announced on April 17 the construction of a new 52 MW solar power plant in Ferkessédougou. Additionally, 12 other photovoltaic solar power plants are planned between 2025 and 2026. By 2030, Côte d’Ivoire aims to achieve a 45% share of renewable energy in its national energy mix, up from 34.5% today, and plans to generate approximately 1,686 MW from solar power and other renewable sources by 2040.

To support this transition, several solar power plants, biomass, and wind power projects are planned over the next few years. Solar energy alone is projected to contribute 9% to the energy mix within five years. The government is also exploring green hydrogen and gas-to-power technologies to reach its goals.
