RENPOWER ITALY 2026
New opportunities across the clean-energy landscape post-MACSE
Date: 19 of February 2026
Time: 09:00 – 18:30 hrs
Venue: Milan, Italy (in-person)
Italy is set for a major Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) boom through 2026, driven by ambitious national goals (80 GW solar by 2030), EU directives for renewables, and strong investor interest in hybrid projects. New auction capacity is coming online and incentives like FER X are favoring storage integration, despite ongoing grid challenges requiring significant BESS deployment to manage intermittency. The forum will examine Italy’s evolving energy landscape, where battery storage has become essential infrastructure to support its massive renewable energy expansion in solar and wind. Battery Asset Management (BAM) will play a crucial role in maximizing returns and grid stability as utility scale storage booms, driven by long term contracts (MACSE), capacity market revenue, and integration with renewables.
Italy’s green hydrogen plans focus on significant infrastructure development, aiming for 1 GW electrolysis capacity in 2026, establishing Hydrogen Valleys with on site production, launching hydrogen trains in regions, building new refueling stations, and integrating hydrogen into industry and transport, all largely funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP).
Another major push for decarbonization will come from Italy’s Agri PV market, which experienced significant growth in 2025, driven by substantial government funding from PNRR to support integrated solar agriculture projects, aiming for over 1 GW capacity by 2026, despite challenges like fragmented regulations and permitting delays.
Onshore wind remains a core pillar and shows steady growth with new projects starting, driven by new auctions, repowering projects, supportive policies like Italy’s new regulations, and major developer investments. The offshore wind sector is the future big driver, with strong potential for growth by 2026, notably floating offshore. Despite hurdles like complex permitting and evolving incentives (FER II decree expected to clarify), developers are optimistic about leveraging Italy’s industrial strengths in shipbuilding and mechanics for large scale projects.
