Background – 2018 has been a great year for renewables in Greece with auctions hosted by the government in order to reach the 2020 national target of 18% renewables into the energy mix. The Regulatory Authority for Energy (RAE) is looking a total of 8 auctions by the end of 2020, introducing three yearly technology-specific auctions for both wind and solar, and two technology-neutral tenders, with the first scheduled for 2019.
Additionally, the growth of electricity generation also requires a major infrastructure development such as the interconnection of the Greek islands with the main electricity grid and new technologies to aid in the use of electricity efficiently.
The vast availability of renewable energy potential combined with ongoing large-scale infrastructure projects show that Greece is a key player in the formulation of the EU energy mix, providing significant investment opportunities in the renewable energy and power infrastructure sector.
As the renewable energy and power infrastructure sectors in Greece are on the move, RENPOWER GREECE will bring together an international audience from Europe, USA, South East Asia and the Middle East.
