Euroconvention Global is pleased to announce its next event in the LATAM region dedicated to : RENPOWER Central America – The Renewable Energy & Power Infrastructure Investors Conference.

Attending: Central America’s key stakeholders including representatives from the government, International Finance Institutions (IFIs), policy makers, international and local developers, EPC contractors, independent power producers, engineering, legal and advisory services, manufacturers, banking and private equity entities.

Background – Serving as a bridge between North and South America, the Central America region is home to more than 50 million inhabitants and despite de difference of governments, they all agree on one thing: putting into work the diversification of the energy mix. Central America is a region leader in the adoption of renewable energy sources (res), having 76% of its energy mix from coming from a collection of hydro, geothermal, solar and wind power sources. However, in current times of climate change that lead to droughts, the region’s main source of energy – hydropower – becomes jeopardized making the region vulnerable and forcing it to source its power from fossil-fuels. As a result, the governments of the Central America nations have adopted policy frameworks and set targets to diversify the energy mix, becoming less dependent on conventional power sources and trust new technologies that have changed the energy market.

Multiple projects have successfully been executed in the Central America isthmus in the last years, with more private investment happening in power generation. At the same time, non-conventional renewable sources such as solar and wind, currently representing 11% combined, are taking-off as these new technologies are becoming adaptable in the region. Moreover, the Electrical Interconnection System of Central American Nations (SIEPAC), first in the American continent, seeks to serve as a clean energy corridor connecting to the grids of North and South America through the Guatemalan and Panamanian grids, respectively.

RENPOWER Central America will be hosted in El Salvador, a country with a new government seeking for new forms of investment and where renewable energy projects have taken-off in the last years with the adoption of renewable energy auctions, favoring new technologies. The 2-days event will be divided in 7 sessions covering relevant topics to further stimulate the adoption of renewables in the isthmus.
