Following our successful inaugural event in 2017, we are delighted to announce the host of the Renpower Botswana – The 2nd Renewable & Power Infrastructure Investors Conference, scheduled for 6 December 2018 in Gaborone. This major event offers a new opportunity to meet with top decision-makers and key stakeholders for a first-hand updated information on the current status and opportunities in the sector.
Background – Regulatory changes introduced a couple of years ago have opened Botswana’s energy market to independent producers. The country can begin to expect large investment in renewable energy programs by investors. With the Botswana government endeavoring to move from a net importer of electricity to a net exporter of electricity, investors and private sector companies have begun to show great interest in helping the government to deliver on its set targets. A renewable energy strategy has indeed been elaborated and implemented last year paving the way for attracting further domestic and foreign investment in wind, solar and biomass technologies. The country is now ready for the scaling-up of the development of renewable energy technologies as a way of diversifying its power generation.
