RENPOWER SOUTH EAST EUROPE 2026
The Power Behind AI & BESS
Powering South East Europe’s AI-Driven Data Centre Boom

Date: 9 of December 2026   /   Time:  09:00 – 17:30   /   Venue: Bucharest, Romania (in-person)

The rapid expansion of AI and high-performance computing is changing the power requirements of Europe’s data centre industry. New AI-ready campuses can require tens or even hundreds of megawatts of reliable electricity. That demand falls on grids, generation and storage that were not planned for it.

Romania, Bulgaria, Greece and North Macedonia have a strong case for this investment. Renewable generation is growing fast, and battery energy storage (BESS) is scaling faster than almost anywhere in Europe. Bulgaria has already awarded more than 14 GWh of standalone storage, well above its 2030 target, and Romania’s utility-scale fleet passed 1 GW in August 2026. Add strategic cross-border interconnections and projects such as PPC’s planned data centre in Kozani, and the region is firmly on the map for data centre and digital infrastructure investors.

Renpower South East Europe 2026 brings together the data centre, electricity, renewable energy, battery storage, grid and investment communities around one central question:

Can South East Europe secure the power, storage and grid capacity that its next wave of AI and data centre investment will require?

The one-day conference will explore where new data centre capacity is likely to be built and how 50 to 100+ MW facilities can obtain timely grid connections. It will also look at the role of BESS in flexibility and resilience, how renewables and PPAs can deliver reliable 24/7 power, and how this infrastructure will be financed. Further discussions will cover Romania’s new grid capacity auctions, the EU AI Factories in Greece and Bulgaria, whether BESS can replace diesel backup, and public acceptance issues such as electricity prices, water use and heat reuse.

The programme includes an opening address, five interactive panel sessions and a closing keynote. It is designed for data centre developers and operators, utilities and grid operators, renewable and BESS developers, technology providers, investors and lenders.

AUDIENCE – Connect with all the stakeholders in the AI and energy infrastructure value chain: Data Centre Developers and Operators, Hyperscalers, Grid Operators, Regulators, Utilities, Renewable Developers, Storage Developers and Integrators (BESS/ESS), Critical Power and Technology Providers, Energy Traders, Banks, IFIs, Infrastructure Funds, Investors, Private Equity.
